Thank you for your interest in our Participatory Defense HUB and its relationship to our fight against wrongful convictions.

Briefly, Participatory Defense is a cooperative organizing model that provides guidance, support, and community for people facing charges, along with their loved ones, and empowers them to directly impact the outcome of cases and ultimately transform the landscape of power in the criminal system. PD is happening nationally, and the meeting space is typically referred to as a HUB.

Our first involvement in the wrongful conviction fight began when a wrongful conviction case was brought to our HUB in early 2021. 

We’ve been planning to reactivate our Participatory Defense HUB for a few months. Because certain practices by the criminal legal system contribute to both wrongful convictions and over sentencing, bringing the two fights together just made sense.
